Here are my notes/summary. For those that attended, please feel free to
correct me, or add to what I’ve missed…
Overall pretty basic. Gay Willis was there and I asked about our street
repairs and the current bond. Her representative got back to me and said
she was having the roads crew come back at as our streets are rated better
than the videos and images I sent. Repair work will before completed by
March 22.
Yellow house was brought up by a member of our neighborhood and it appears
we’ve caught the attention of ENP , Code Enforcement and the city. While
some may want it torn down, it would take a lot to have the city condemn
but other actions are in play right now.
Speed and traffic was brought up mainly for the other neighborhoods north
of us with cut through streets
Sanitation is slowing down on the transition to street pick up but don’t be
surprised if that comes in the next few years. If your alley is less than
10’ wide it’s possible you’ll get switched. Over 60% of the city is now on
curb side pick up. If you are elderly and need help, call helping hands and
they can take your trash to the curb if needed. The move to street is that
over the last 40+ years trucks have gotten larger and the alleys remain the
same. Employee danger and damage to properties, utility connections etc are
costly
DPD is not currently being asked to work with ICE and current media is
skewed. That said, ICE is national and DPD is local. Until they’re asked
there is no action.
When to call 311 v 911. Currently DPD response time for level 1 911 calls
are 11 minutes (this is death is possible) and should be 8 minutes. So they
are struggling to recruit officers, not that they haven’t given great
incentives (she listed them) but that people just don’t want to be cops.
That said ENP enrollment is super important. There are 7 (or 9, I didn’t
write it down) officers that service the ENP neighborhoods. Yes, we can pay
more to get more hours but it depends on staffing. I’m assuming that if we
have more participation than the other neighborhoods we’ll pull from their
hours and have more. That’s my assumption but may not be correct.
Hope this helps!
