[Neighbors] Info re vacant house 10757 St Lazare

Neighbors,

After reading about the prowler in our neighborhood two nights ago, I spoke with Ms Gillen, former owner of the blue house at the corner of St Lazare and Royal (10757 St Lazare.) Recently she sold her home to an investor (private sale) and moved to a care facility. 

 Before she moved out, a homeless man was camping between her house/shrubs and the wall beside her house that is our neighborhood boundary on Royal. She discovered him because his marijuana smoke was entering her home. At the campsite, they found books and other personal items. 

LJE Neighborhood Patrol Officer Gregorich confirmed these facts occurred about six months ago. He is going to be on the lookout for the prowler. If you see him patrolling, please thank him!

I wish I had known about this at the time it happened. Ms Gillen is about 85 years old and I’m saddened that she experienced this frightening experience all alone. 

For the safety of our neighborhood, please consider getting to know your neighbors (if you don’t- including the ones who share an alley with you) so you can send text alert when something important needs to be shared and time is a factor. 

Email notifications are great but not everyone is on LJE email and not everyone checks email frequently. 

Always report suspicious persons or vehicles to 911 AND Neighborhood Patrol. It’s time to renew Neighborhood Patrol memberships for 2026!
