[Neighbors] Squirrels chewing/stripping bark of maple (and other ) trees

We’re trying everything!  
You can get a tree wrap that will “supposedly” help the tree heal.  Keep as much bark on as you wrap the trees.  Then we put a guard around the trees to stop the squirrels from crawling up.  It’s gotta be high because they are jumpers. Then we bought some "cones of shame” and wrapped it around the top so if they do climb up it would provide another barrier (hopefully.) To go along with all this, the sparkly, jingly owls, a sparkly pinwheels and I’m about to add metallic forks to the ground as the first line of defense.
Whew! The tree may be too damaged but fingers crossed.  Btw I have a paint ball gun! ;)
